The MTM909 propeller shaft mechanical seal is the first system designed for case tube to combine the safety of the Watershield® integrated pneumatic barrier with the practicality of the full-split configuration. Thanks to its design, it is the world’s most compact split shaft seal with integrated safety barrier. The stationary case can accommodate up to 6 radial holes (optional) that can be used to connect: an additional flushing, a temperature sensor, a vibration sensor (triaxial), a pressure sensor or a dedicated vent line. The stationary part of MTM909 is made of techno polymer as standard, and can be fixed to the tube by means of a series of grains or a clamp. The stationary ring can be supplied in Silicon Carbide (S1) or in Tungsten Carbide (T1) and is expected to be inserted in a 316 stainless steel case.

The rotating ring of MTM909 propeller shaft seal is constrained to the propulsion axis with a clutch that drags the rotating case provided in 316 stainless steel with insert in Graphite Resin (G2), Graphite Antimony (G3), Silicon Carbide (S1) or Tungsten Carbide (T1). Thanks to the full split configuration, it is possible to carry out maintenance directly in the water and / or with the propulsion shaft in position, with an obvious saving of time and money. The Watershield® pneumatic barrier ring, integrated into the stationary casing, makes Microtem’s MTM909 the most technologically advanced propeller shaft seal in the market for propeller shaft seals for pipe installation. One important detail is the integrated preload system of Microtem MTM909 seal is that it guarantees extremely simple installation, and does not require any particular specialization.
